Last Friday morning, we jumped on the train bright and early for our journey to Scotland
White stuff out in the fields
The North Sea
We got off the train in Edinburgh, checked into our hotel, got right back on and headed to Glasgow for the afternoon. Since we grew up in Glasgow, Montana it was only right that we go see our hometown's sister city
The weather was not bad at all, the sun was quite warm
Really not a whole lot to see, kind of a drab city
We did have a very lovely dinner (oh no more food pictures!!)
Appetizers
Delicious mains
A shared sticky toffee pudding
With our bellies full, spent the evening listening to some great music before going back to Edinburgh
Saturday
Since we had already been in Edinburgh back in 2014 and done all of the sightseeing, we had to conquer the only thing left, hike up Arthur's Seat
Time to lace these bad boys up (haven't had them on since my Lakes District trek, hoping the new toenails survive)
Larry: we don't have to walk all the way up, we can turn around whenever we want
Me: looks like a nice, long, steady incline, no problem
Starting out with a smile
Path is a bit icy, but can walk in the grass
Here's where I find out that the "nice incline" is NOT Arthurs Seat but the MOUNTAIN behind it!!!
I thought he said we could turn around whenever I wanted!!
Just give me a sec (notice the path now)
Yep solid ice
Crawling up the side on all fours seems better than taking the path!
FINALLY something to hold onto
Made it!!
Great view of the castle
No blood
Another well-earned fantastic dinner
Larry: I like pretty food
Sunday
A stroll up the Royal Mile (with my thighs still burning)
Wall of shortbread
Larry's snack in honor of our hometown mascot
A lovely farewell
