Weekend bits and bobs

Saurday night we went across the river to Hull to see Frank Turner.  Good show, extremely exuberant British crowd

Soooo back to spiders.... it is a rare occasion that I walk out into the garden and don't walk straight into a spider web face first or get my legs wrapped up in one but today was definitely a first
Larry got in his car and had this hanging above the steering wheel
Now the Brits would set him free, we on the other hand ended his life

This morning Larry participated in a charity ride put on by the refinery.  The route brought them through our village so I waited at the top of our street to get a photo of him going by

 Too fast for me

I drove to the refinery to catch him at the finish but had a camera malfunction.  I seriously stink at action photography!!
So I got him standing still

Weekend wrapup (field trips)

There is an abundance of public footpaths in this country!  Larry took me on a couple walks so I could experience a few near Humber Lodge
Freshly plowed (really worked up a sweat here!)
Wheat field
 Baa baa black sheep
Potato field

Had a seat malfunction on Saturday, lost a screw.  Not an easy ride home!

It's been a slow news week!!

I'm not sure what has come over me!  I guess I've been bitten by the gardening bug!  The weather has been absolutely beautiful, in fact it was a great summer, so I don't want to be inside.

I've spent my days:

Killing all the moss, lichen and algae that I can find (it used to be green)

Found pansies (or as they call them here violas) on clearance

Love how they come packaged!

Filled all the pots

And hanging baskets

Even put some in the ground

Notice all the grass seed I threw down (ignore the weeds)

Since I had such good luck with my first crop, I thought I'd try it on a bigger scale

Not sure how this one with turn out!  I'm not the best seed spreader for sure!
I know I'm going to regret this but I wish we'd get a few rain showers.  It REALLY does not rain everyday in England!  It feels like a drought to me!

Another before/after - took out the evergreen and trimmed the holly tree

It's apple season again.  There are 5 trees with these apples

I didn't notice this tree last year, must be a different type (I don't know my apples)

Also never noticed the pear tree

This garden has been a real nightmare but it's coming together finally.  A new gardener is supposed to show up on Monday, can't wait!  I still don't like gardening!!

Surprise, surprise!!!

While shopping this morning at my little neighborhood Tesco, I spotted this new display!!

I would really love to know how many Americans shop at this store!  I'd place a bet that I'm the only one!  I think the selection is pretty funny!
